THE GHANA NATIONAL CLEANER PRODUCTION CENTER WAS INAUGURATED ON 20TH JANUARY, 2012 AND REGISTERED AS A COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE IN MARCH, 2014
Its mandate is to develop and implement projects and activities that will promote resource efficiency and cleaner production activities in areas of energy, water and raw-material efficiency and waste management practices in industries that would result in reduced manufacturing cost, lowered pollution and improved health and safety performance.
The Centre is located in Community 22 on the Afariwaa road in Tema. It is hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency of the Ministry of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation (MESTI). The Centre is also a member of the global RECPnet.
It works in collaboration with UNIDO, UNEP and other international partners.

- Training programmes to build capacity particularly with allies and partners
- In-plant Cleaner Production assessments to demonstrate the scope and potential of Cleaner Production and also to provide hands-on training
- Technical assistance on Cleaner Production assessment and implementation as well as in related fields
- Policy advice (national and local governments)
Become a centre of excellence in the promotion and implementation of Cleaner Production strategy in enterprises and government policies, in harmony with local conditions, and to develop local capacity to create and meet Cleaner Production demand throughout the country.
Contribute to economic growth through best practice in sustainable consumption and production of resources.
