On Thursday, the 6th of June 2024, the Executive Director Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, the Deputy Executive Director (General Services) Mr. Abu Abdul Hanan, the Deputy Executive Director (Operations) Mr. Ransford Sekyi, the Ag. Deputy Executive Director (Technical Services) Ing. Esi Nerquaye-Tetteh and the Head of Admin Tema Regional office Mrs. Elizabeth A. Otipeseku as part of their familiarization tour visited Ghana National Cleaner Production Center (GNCPC) to discuss the progress of the center and to promote it’s activities to a wider audience.

This being the first in-person visit of the Director to the center. The GNCPC presented activities of the center and project being worked on. This brought to light some major setbacks and challenges the center is facing. The Director in his remarks assured the center of his full support and to spearhead the reform of the center to a better standing to provide world class consultancy in resource efficiency and cleaner production to the national market.

The official swearing-in of ERSDA Executives and the inauguration of the Eastern Region Scrap Dealers Association (ERSDA) brought a sense of purpose and excitement at the ERSDA Regional Office located at Zongo Market, Koforidua. This was a turning point, reaffirming the association's dedication to quality and environmentally friendly methods to managing e-waste, with the continuous help of Sustainable Recycling Industries (SRI), the Swiss Embassy in Ghana's project implementation agency.

On the 6th to 8th of February 2024, the Ghana National Cleaner Production Center jointly implemented with the Mountain Research Institute, the Institute for Material Science and Technology (EMPA) and Oeko Institut in collaboration with World Resources Forum (WRF) with funding from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) held a training workshop at the Electricity Companyof Ghana Training School in Tema community 10 for Auditors for used Lead Acid Battery (ULAB) Recycling Facilities as part of implementing the Sustainable Recycling Industries Project II (SRI II), to promote sustainable e-waste recycling in Ghana. In attendance were Saeed Forocco-Head of EPA MID Department,Sally Bineh-Director for Regional Office EPA, Magdalene Wüst-Deputy Head of Cooperation and Charlotte Esenam Afudego-Private Sector Development Trade Specialist all from the Embassy of Swizerland in Ghana. 

The objective was to equip regulators to effectively implement the Technical Guidelines for Environmentally Sound Management of Used Lead Acid Batteries in Ghana.
